Is addiction to smoking measured by how much you smoke or by other factors due to personality?

I think perhaps the addiction can be measured in the inability to quit. Or in your case, because you only smoke at most 5 a day, an unwillingness to quit. You don't want to , so you won't . I don't know if you are really addicted to the addictive substances in the cigs, for you it seems to be more of the act you are addicted to. Look I only smoke maybe 1 or 2 every few days. Sometimes my pack goes stale before I can finish it. And I only smoke in the car, I never really want one any other time. So like you it's the act of doing it that has a kind of calming effect. I love that first drag, and almost always throw it out after three or four drags. I am surly not addicted, I don't get enough to actually be addicted, and sometimes will go weeks without one. But in those times that I want one, I have one. When you really wish to quit, you will, that's the bottom line.
